In-Demand Rayners Opens Door For Possible Stellies Exit

In-Demand Rayners Opens Door For Possible Stellies Exit

Stellenbosch FC striker Iqraam Rayners has made a brutal admission about his future amid links with Gauteng's 'big three' clubs.

The striker is currently in camp with Bafana Bafana where his goalscoring exploits have landed him a spot on coach Hugo Broos' team for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

While he focuses on replicating his club form for his national team, there is the lingering issue of a possible transfer following an incredible season with Stellies.

As reported by the Siya crew, both Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs have prioritized the striker as a top target for the new campaign, though Stellies head coach Steve Barker has issued a 'hands off' sign on all their players.

Now, Rayners has weighed in on the situation revealing that he is set for some in-depth talks with his club about what the future holds.

"I don't know yet," he told journalists at Bafana Bafana's training camp.

"I didn't make up my mind; I must still think about that after the Bafana camp and see what happens.

"But I need to return to Stellenbosch and whatever comes my way, I'll be happy.

"But firstly, I need to focus on my team and speak to the management; if there are offers, maybe they might know or wouldn't know. But if they say that there are teams that want me, I'll go to them and ask what's the situation because I still have a contract with Stellenbosch," he said.

Rayners has scored 17 goals and registered eight assists in 39 matches in all competitions this season.

The Stellies star will be hoping to play a big role in South Africa's crucial Fifa World Cup qualifier game against the Super Eagles on Friday.
