South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns have given an update on Erwin Saavedra's availability ahead of their opening match of the season this weekend.
Bolivian international Erwin Saavedra was in Sundowns training on Thursday morning as the Tshwane giants were preparing for the MTN8 quarter-final clash against Polokwane City this Sunday.

The Siya crew reported in July that Sundowns have recalled Saavedra, who was out on loan to Bolivar. While he was out on loan to Bolivar, Saavedra rediscovered his form and managed to get back into the national team.
Before going out on loan to Bolivar, Saavedra was struggling to get into the team at Sundowns. Injury hampered his progress and competition for places was also proving to be difficult, with so much quality in the squad at Chloorkop.

Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi confirmed to the media on Thursday, during an MTN8 press conference at Chloorkop, that Saavedra would not be available to feature against Rise and Shine.
"No, he is not (available). He is not registered," the coach said.
