Goliath Gaming & Mettlestate Host A Successful FIFA Play Like A Girl Event

The second annual #PlayFIFALikeAGirl event successfully took place over the weekend at the Mettlestate studios.

Check it out!

What's the story?

This year's Play FIFA Like A Girl event took place over the weekend and the workshop has a purpose is to empower and support the female FIFA e sports community.

Hosted by Mettlestate Studios, the event provided an opportunity for female FIFA players to take their FIFA gameplay into the level of competitive e sports.

Let's take a closer look at how the event went down...

The Play FIFA Like A Girl workshop, hosted by Sam "Tech Girl" Wright, Busisiwe Masango-Steenkamp, a FIFA e sports player for Goliath Gaming, and Gabriella Brondani Rego took place on this past weekend at Mettlestate studios in Johannesburg.

The event aims to break down barriers for women and girls involved or who have an interest in e sports.

Goliath Gaming revealed that Masango-Steenkamp was scouted at this event last year, with the gaming company reiterating the importance of Play FIFA Like A Girl:

"These kind of community events are incredibly important, not only to help build the female FIFA community and provide a safe space to learn and grow, but to also provide opportunities for up and coming future FIFA stars and see them shine. It's awesome to see this event grow from strength to strength each year, and we can't wait for the next one."

The event saw the kids show off their FIFA skills and learn from some of SA e sports' finest FIFA gamers.

"The Play FIFA Like A Girl concept was created with the intention of providing a safe and supportive space for women and girls to either learn to play Fifa or to improve on their skills, as well as to cultivate a stronger community of female FIFA players in SA, says Wright to bizcommunity.com.

The event organisers will hope to see a growth in interest from girls wanting to take part in e sports, and more wide-eyed talent that are willing to learn and potentially get recruited.
