EA Sports have introduced the hijab in FIFA 23 for Morocco's Nouhaila Benzina after she made history by becoming the the first player to play in a World Cup match while wearing the Islamic headscarf.
Benzina's impact has rubbed off on EA Sports who will have an entire demographic of football fans and players being represented on the biggest football gaming franchise.

In the latest title update for FIFA 23, EA updated Moroccan defender Benzina's player model to give her a hijab.
The first player to wear a hijab at the Women's World Cup will not only leave a lasting legacy at the tournament but also on football's biggest gaming franchise.
This could be EA's last major update in terms of cultural/religious impact on their FIFA title, with the FIFA 23 season nearing its end to usher in a new era with EA FC 24.

The wearing of the hijab in real life football is a relatively recent development. It had previously been banned by FIFA, which claimed they could potentially cause injuries to the head or neck.
This changed in 2014, when FIFA finally for players to wear a head covering for religious reasons.
