Former Nike's The Chance participant Charlie Tsotetsi has turned to coaching after hanging up his boots. In 2012, he was among more than 100 000 players from more than 50 countries from around the world who participated in Nike's The Chance program at FC Barcelona's youth academy and remarkably made into the last 16.
Nike's The Chance was a global talent identification programme that gave amateur footballers a chance to showcase their talent at a big stage with the aim of giving them exposure to be signed by professional clubs.
With his selection into the last 16, Tsotetsi was among players who played matches against the academies of Manchester United and Juventus, among other top clubs. Following the programme, things didn't go quite as expected for Tsotetsi after all his attempts to make a name for himself at the different clubs in Mzansi and abroad were unsuccessful. He did, however, turn out for Saint-Eloi Lupopo in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
"I am looking for a club that I can coach, either a youth team of a PSL (DStv Premiership) club or a team in the Motsepe Foundation Championship or ABC Motsepe League," he told the Siya crew.
