Orlando Pirates are yet to decide on the future of Bandile Shandu as his contract is nearing an end.
Shandu has been with the Buccaneers for almost three years, having joined from Maritzburg United in 2021. The defender-cum-midfielder had been with the Team of Choice for nine years, having come through the development at the KwaZulu-Natal outfit and went on to make over 150 appearances in the senior team, before his move to Pirates.
With the three-year contract he signed with Bucs set to expire in June, the 29-year-old has been yet to hear from the club regarding his future, while sources have indicated that he could be facing uncertain future with the club.
Shandu has struggled for game time this season, with only three starts in eight league appearances. An injury has also played a part in his slow progress although the Pietermaritzburg-born player did play a big role in helping the team to win the MTN8 earlier in the season.
"Bandile Shandu is a good player and it's just that he has been affected by an injury on his progress. He is a player who has always done well whenever he has been given a chance to play. But in football these days you are judged based on your contribution, and it is through playing regularly that influence clubs to decide on the players' contracts," said the source.
