The Siya sources stated that the Brazilians are scheduled to meet with Mashego's representatives to decide whether to activate the contract extension or release him at the end of the season.

"The club is still contemplating what is the next step regarding Terrence Mashego. He still has a one-year option on his contract and the club hasn't made their mind up yet on whether they will just exercise that one year or offer him a new deal while still keeping the one-year option. It's believed that they will make the decision in the next two weeks on whether to exercise the option or not," the insider told the Siya crew.

A second source highlighted the potential for Mashego to move away from Sundowns.

"There was interest and an inquiry from Kaizer Chiefs just before the close of the January transfer window period and there is a possibility of him moving either to Kaizer Chiefs or another club in the next transfer window but that will also depend on what step Sundowns take in the next two weeks regarding his future at the club. So at the moment Sundowns are working on his future," the second source revealed.

As Sundowns reportedly navigate the decision-making process involved, the club's final decision should also affect Mashego's Bafana Bafana future. He will be looking for regular game time to win his way back into contention for Hugo Broos' squad.

Mashego recently represented South Africa's CHAN team against Egypt in a qualifier which ended in a 1-1 draw.
