Orlando Pirates are set to open talks with assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi over a new deal, the Siya crew has been informed.
The former African Wanderers star joined the Soweto giants in July 2021 on a three-year contract, which is set to expire in June 2024.
Despite no official title upon his appointment, the 54-year-old has served under three different regimes at the club, first as an assistant coach to Josef Zinnbauer, later taking over the reins in a co-coaching system with Fadlu Davids, before joining the current set-up led by Jose Riveiro, where his is a second assistant coach alongside Sergio Almenara.
Ncikazi has experienced success with the Buccaneers since joining them, winning three trophies in two seasons, which includes two MTN8 titles as well as the Nedbank Cup in the 2022/23 season.
He was also part of the side that made it all the way to the CAF Confederation Cup final in 2021/22, falling short to RS Berkane in a penalty shootout.
With Ncikazi's current deal heading into its final six months, Siya sources have indicated that the two parties are set to open talks over a new deal in the near future.
Soccer Laduma understands that the Bucs hierarchy is satisfied with the former Golden Arrows head coach's contribution to the squad, despite talk that he was on his way out of the club upon Riveiro's arrival at the start of the 2022/23 campaign.
