Siya sources close to the club and Maphike have indicated that the club felt the former player, who is also a qualified lawyer, may have been overqualified to work for the club in an education capacity.
The source added that apart from his LLB (Law) degree, Maphike also holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours in History and Linguistics, a Masters Diploma in Education, and a Senior Teacher Diploma.
"For now we can't exactly say what happened but Teargas (Ntsie Maphike) is no longer at the club. They asked him not to report for duty again. Yes, you can say he was relieved of his duties. He is a lawyer, so you should know that and he can get better jobs with his teaching qualifications as well," said the Siya source.
"So, maybe the club is giving him the chance to spread his wings and explore other avenues. But, yes, he is no longer employed by the club," the source added.

A second insider stated that the former defender, who played for Amakhosi for close to a decade, was informed that the club wouldn't be needing his services anymore.
"He was really helpful in terms of preparing the players education wise. As an education officer he helped players with both their football careers and also educational information outside football. But it's believed the club told him that they don't need his services anymore and hence they released him from his duties despite him being the fitting person for that position as he is an educator, a lawyer and a Kaizer Chiefs legend," the second insider close to the club stated.
Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment, but there was no response at the time of publishing this report.
The Siya crew also contacted Maphike who chose not to comment on this report.
