Buhle Mkhwanazi has been spotted at a new club, one year after his exit from SuperSport United was confirmed. The former Bafana Bafana international has effectively spent two years on the sidelines. First, he spent time in the football wilderness following the sale of Bidvest Wits to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in 2020.
He was then signed in August 2021 by Matsatsantsa, who threw a lifeline in Mkhwanazi's direction, one which he looked to have grabbed.
However, at the end of the 2021/22 season, he was named amongst the list of players headed for the exit door at the club, with his stance on the club's COVID-19 vaccination policy cited as the reason for his departure.
He had made just eight appearances for the Tshwane outfit, and would go on to spend the 2022/23 campaign twiddling his thumbs.
Now, according to well-placed Siya sources, the former Bloemfontein Celtic, University of Pretoria and Bidvest Wits man has resurfaced on the footballing scene with Wits University's ABC Motsepe League side, though it's unclear whether he has penned a deal with the University outfit yet.
"It looks like he will sign. You know the thing with Buhle is that he is naturally fit, so there is no issue with his conditioning. Plus it's not a requirement to be vaccinated in that league, he just wants to play football again," a source told the Siya crew.
