Manqoba Mngqithi's name has surfaced as a leading contender for the Kaizer Chiefs vacancy, and the Siya crew investigates the possibility of the Mamelodi Sundowns coach joining Amakhosi.
Soccer Laduma had already reported how Pitso Mosimane and Mngqithi were Chiefs' two preferred options in a short list of five coaches.

Of course, technically, the Glamour Boys could even bring in a coach from outside of those five preferences, based on availability.
In terms of Mngqithi himself, Siya sources close to Chiefs have indicated that Amakhosi are still waiting on Sundowns whether they will renew his contract or not.
"It's not a secret that Chiefs have inquired about Manqoba (Mngqithi) because they are interested in him. But at the same time he is still a Sundowns coach until June 30 when his initial contract expires. But again, it will depend on whether he agrees to a new deal with Sundowns or not," said the Siya source.
"So, Chiefs are on Sundowns' mercy. Chiefs are waiting on Sundowns actually. What Sundowns decide is what will determine whether Manqoba joins Chiefs or not. For now it's a tricky situation because he is top of their list as things stand now," the source observed.
A second Siya source provided insight on Mngqithi's situation at Sundowns and how it could effect a potential Chiefs move.
"Yes, talks at Sundowns are at an advanced stage and within the next few a weeks before the season ends a new deal is on the cards but he has ambitions to be a head coach and that's what could change things and attract him to the post at Kaizer Chiefs.
"So, Chiefs have to wait for Sundowns before they can engage him though they are interested in him. For now Sundowns hold the key to his possible move to Chiefs," the source added.
The 52-year-old UEFA A Licence holder joined the Brazilians in October 2012 as an assistant coach to Mosimane and has been at the club since then in different positions including being co-coach with current head coach Rulani Mokwena.Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for a comment but no response was received by the time this story was published.
