Dlamini Signs Two-Year Deal At Pirates?

Dlamini Signs Two-Year Deal At Pirates?

Orlando Pirates are expected to have tied down one of their players to a new deal after a few weeks of talks, as the Siya crew had previously reported on the potential discussions between the two parties.

Midfielder Kabelo Dlamini and the club have probably been holding talks for a new contract and according to reliable Siya sources privy to the information, the 27-year-old former Bloemfontein Celtic player is now thought to have signed a new two-year contract which is expected to run until June 2026.

The source told the Siya crew that his current contract, which is currently thought to be running to June 2024, has now resulted in the club possibly wanting to add two more years to the potential deal.

"Yes, according to the information that I have right now, it's possibly a two-year contract. He still has one year remaining but from January 2024 he could have been free to sign a pre-contract with another team and they don't want to see that happening hence they have moved quickly and could give him the new two-year deal," said the Siya source.

"The player is also believed to be very happy with the new deal and that's why he agreed to sign," the source said.

Pirates will be playing in the CAF Champions League next season, so the Siya source believes the club needs more players that they can rely on, both for the local competitions and when playing in Africa.

"They have looked at different reasons before agreeing to the new deal. They are playing in all the competitions available and they need a well balanced squad and despite the new players who will be coming in, they thought Kabelo (Dlamini) is one of the players they need to hold onto. Hence, the new deal.

"He has shown his capabilities every time he has been given the chance to play and it's for that reason that they have agreed on a two-year extension which the player has finally signed.

"There will be many announcements made. I think it will be just before the team leaves for pre-season training in Spain," the source told the Siya crew.

Since joining Bucs in 2019, Dlamini has played in 72 games in all competitions, scoring on four different occasions.

This past season alone, he had featured in 25 league games, a single MTN8 appearance, which was accompanied by five Nedbank Cup appearances, famously winning both the MTN8 and the Nedbank Cup with the team in the process.

Efforts to get comments from Pirates' media officer were not successful as Siya crew calls were not answered at the time of preparing this story.
