Last week, talks of Nabi taking over the reins from Arthur Zwane as the new Chiefs coach were in full motion.
The coach did his part by turning down a new and improved offer from Young Africans, while Chiefs appeared to have decided on not moving forward with Zwane at the helm.
However, well-placed insiders have informed the crew that talks between the two parties have come to a standstill, owing to Chiefs' indecision with regards to Zwane.
Having been at the club for over 22 years, first as a player and thereafter as a development coach before eventually becoming the club's head coach, Chiefs, the crew understands were not willing to dump Zwane and would like to see him remain as part of Nabi's technical team.
The Tunisian coach, however, is keen on bringing his own technical team on board if he is to hit the ground running, with Chiefs set to reconvene for pre-season training this week.
Zwane still has two years remaining on his existing Chiefs deal and it remains to be seen whether the two parties can reach a compromise with regards to the coach's future.
Nabi is said to have multiple offers on the table, with Chiefs his priority, the crew understands, although that could change in the event that talks do not progress with the Glamour Boys in the coming days.
