Chiefs To Give In To Fan Protests?

Chiefs To Give In To Fan Protests?

Kaizer Chiefs are one of the biggest clubs in South Africa and on the continent, and the Soweto giants have made multiple changes to their technical bench in recent years, with another change believed to be imminent.

Chiefs have been unable to establish a winning momentum this season despite investing heavily in improving the first team with quality players. As a result, on a number of times, coach Molefi Ntseki has been on the receiving end of missiles projected by frustrated irate fans demanding better results.

The latest incident of unruly fan behaviour took place on Saturday evening when AmaZulu FC knocked Amakhosi out of the Carling Knockout with a 1-0 defeat.

After recently pleading with fans to support Ntseki for the long term, the Siya crew understands the club is now taking this weekend's latest outcry from supporters into consideration, where missiles were again launched at the head coach.

Following yet another exit from a cup competition, Siya sources have indicated that a technical team reshuffle could be on the cards at Chiefs.

Siya sources have indicated that Cavin Johnson could be added to the first team bench. Johnson, who was recently appointed as the Head of the Academy at Chiefs, could be drafted into the first team in order to add depth to the current team, headed by Ntseki.

At this stage it is unclear in what capacity Johnson will be added, should the reshuffle be concluded, and if Arthur Zwane or Dillon Sheppard will be impacted. The source, who is privy to the inner dealings at the club, explained that the current technical team is not been viewed as a failure, but are viewing the potential reshuffle as an opportunity to bolster the team.

"The position the club wants to take regarding the senior side's technical team is not because they have failed but because they want to have the best interest of every member of the club at heart. They are looking at the current situation and want an immediate solution for now," said the Siya source.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment but no response was received while this story was prepared.
