An insider has revealed who AmaZulu players wanted as the coach, prior to the recent technical team changes made by the club.
This week, AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu decided to reshuffle the club's coaching department by appointing Ayanda Dlamini to the role of interim coach, while Romain Folz has been moved to the technical director position.

The decision came as no surprise after some reports in the media about Folz allegedly losing control of the dressing room at the Durban-based club.
Earlier, Zungu had showed no signs of planning to remove the French-Moroccan mentor from the head coach position as he believed that he would turn the fortunes of the club.
Following his exit from Usuthu in October, Brandon Truter spoke openly about the difficulties he experienced with players and questioned if they were 'coachable', while confirming that there are players at the club that he would not work with again.
While the KwaZulu-Natal giants have denied the allegations of player power, the latest developments have suggested otherwise.

A source close to the latest happenings at Usuthu has revealed that the name of Dan Malesela did come up at some point when it was becoming evident that there would be a technical team reshuffle.
"The president has never and is still not doubting the qualities of Romain Folz as a coach, but he had to make the changes. He tried in every way possible to support the coach but it was becoming evident that it would be difficult for him to do his job due to other reasons. What I can tell you is that some of the players wanted Dan Malesela to coach them but obviously that would never be their decision to make but that of the president," said the source.
But it has been confirmed that the players are pleased with the decision taken to bring back Dlamini to lead them until the end of the season, as confirmed by the club.
