The Siya crew has been informed of AmaZulu FC's transfer fee paid for one of Cape Town City's most sought-after possessions, having won the race for the lanky defender's signature.
Taariq Fielies has been on the radar of the country's Big Three over the past few seasons and the Citizens, much to their credit, have been able to starve off this persistent interest in one of their key players.
However, Fielies' situation at the club took a dramatic twist at the start of the 2023/24 season, where he was regarded as surplus to requirements, with the Mother City-based outfit putting him up for sale.
A source close to the dealings has since informed Soccer Laduma that Usuthu forked out a transfer fee of upwards of R1 million for the 31-year-old's services, which, according to Siya sources, was enough for early-season strugglers to part ways with the star.
As previously reported by this publication, a source close to the dealings at the time revealed that the Citizens placed a price tag of around R8 million for the player back in 2021.
Two years later, and he has been sold for a fraction of the price by boss John Comitis. Fielies made his debut for the KwaZulu-Natal-based side in a goalless draw against Polokwane City, winning Man of the Match.
