Pitso Set For Emotional Al Ahli Return

Pitso Set For Emotional Al Ahli Return

Pitso Mosimane is set for an emotional return against his former employers Al Ahli Jeddah in the Asian Champions League Elite.

Mosimane has faced a challenging start to his tenure Esteghlal club, but signs are emerging that things are starting to take shape.

After taking the reins at Esteghlal, Mosimane, renowned for his success with Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly and Al Ahli Jeddah, has had to navigate a period of adjustment, but his strategic approach appears to be slowly yielding results.

The seasoned coach is on track to improve Esteghlal's fortunes, with the team beginning to show more cohesion and promise.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Mosimane's current journey is his upcoming clash in the Asian Champions League Elite stage, where he will face his former club, Al Ahli Jeddah.

The match promises to be highly charged, given the complicated history Mosimane shares with the Saudi Arabian side.

Mosimane's time at Al Ahli Jeddah was marked by significant success. He led the club back to the Saudi Pro League in style, securing the Saudi First Division title and ensuring their return to the top tier of Saudi Arabian football.

However, what was initially a triumphant period soured towards the end of his tenure. The club reneged on their contract with Mosimane, leading to a public fallout and an ugly split. Mosimane and his staff took the matter to FIFA, which ruled in his favour, awarding him a substantial multimillion-rand payout in compensation.

Now, as he faces his former employers in the Asian Champions League on 2 December, there is a sense of anticipation surrounding the matchup. It's a chance for Mosimane to prove his mettle against a club that he helped guide to success but ultimately had to part ways with under difficult circumstances.
