Pitso Mosimane's record against Kaizer Chiefs makes for interesting reading as he prepares to take on the Soweto giants once more, this time as coach of Al Ahly on one of the biggest stages in African football.
It's safe to say that Pitso Mosimane holds a slight advantage in his battle with Chiefs.
According to stats derived from Transfermarkt.com, the 56-year-old has faced Amakhosi on 18 occasions dating back to the 2006/07 season, twice as SuperSport United head coach and 16 times with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Mosimane does have a slight advantage in his duels against Chiefs, boasting seven wins against his esteemed counterparts, the latest of which came in August 2020, just months before he left the Brazilians to take up the reins at Al Ahly.
He has suffered defeat on five occasions the last being a 2-0 defeat in October 2019. Six of the matches ended in a share of the spoils between the two sides.
Saturday's match will be Mosimane's 19th time facing off against the Glamour Boys, although this time around there is a lot more at stake than just three points.
Mosimane will be hoping to etch his name into football's history books by becoming the second coach behind former Al Ahly mentor Manuel Jose to win the tournament on three occasions, having won it with Sundowns (2016) and Al Ahly (2020).
For Chiefs meanwhile, they go in search of their first-ever CAF Champions League gong, having navigated their way through to the final of the continental campaign with great resilience despite their domestic struggles in the season gone by.
As reported by the Siya crew, the match will be televised on Saturday, kick off is scheduled for 21:00.
