Given the magnitude of Tau's proposed new contract, it is little wonder then that negotiations have taken over a year between Al Ahly's hierarchy and Tau's camp.
Tau had been subject to interest from Europe as well as locally with Mamelodi Sundowns reportedly keen on rekindling their relationship with the 29-year-old.
However, Al Ahly were adamant in holding onto the attacker and as a result had began negotiations for a new deal, despite his current contract ending in June 2025.
The details of his potential new contract have subsequently been noted by reports abroad and such a bumper deal could see the 'Lion Of Judah' become Africa's highest paid player!
According to Almawq3, Tau's potential new contract could see him pocket $5 million (±R96 million) over the next three seasons, which is made up of yearly salaries of $1.2 million (±R23 million), which increases to $1.3 million (±R25 million) in the first year, $1.4 million (±R28 million) in the second year and $1.6 million (±R31 million) in the third year.
The potential contract will be for a period of three years running until June 2028.
Tau has shown his importance to the Egyptian outfit's cause despite initially struggling with injuries when he first joined the club from Brighton Hove Albion in 2021.
