At the start of the current season Royal AM extended the contract of former Orlando Pirates defender Thabo Matlaba for one year and with that contract coming to an end in June 2024, the club may be working on keeping their versatile player longer.
Siya sources close to the club have indicated that they may be negotiating with the 36-year-old to extend his deal for another year.

The source added that even though the deal is not sealed yet, the signs are positive how negotiations could proceed.
"Yes, it true he signed another one year deal at the start of the season and they feel like they should have just given him a two-year contract and that's why they are offering him this new one-year contract until June 2025," said the Siya source.
"They want to keep him because of his experience and also leadership amongst the players. For now they are talking about another one-year but you never know what could happen at the end of the negotiations. It could be more.
"Mind you he is 36-years-old and this could be his last professional contract in the top league," the source told Soccer Laduma.
A second source stated that since they are not sure what will happen to their FIFA ban in future.
"This is the one way of preparing for the future. They just want to make sure that all their valuable players are kept at the team and Thabo is one of them and that's why they want to keep him for another year until June 2025. They also want to keep all the players who are already on their books since they can't register players at the moment," the source told Soccer Laduma.
The Siya crew contacted Royal AM for comment but no response was received while preparing this story.
