Royal AM lawyer Leruma Thobejane has explained why they are not threatened by the reported FIFA transfer ban if they don't pay the R12 million they allegedly owe Samir Nurkovic.
There has been reports that the KwaZulu-Natal side could face a FIFA transfer ban if they don't pay the alleged R12 million they owe to Nurkovic for breach of contract, after they terminated his two-year contract two months into the deal, by the 21st of June 2023 (Wednesday).

Leruma says there was no deadline for them to pay Nurkovic and that the sanction announced by FIFA would not hold, because they are still waiting on the world football government body to give them reasons for the award in favour of the Serbian.
"Firstly, let me correct the misinformation. There was no deadline. We wrote to FIFA requesting a motivated award. The motivated award is the award with reasons for the award," Leruma said on 947's MSW.
"We had to do that within 10 days of receipt of the notification of the award. We did that within two or three days. In terms of article 24 of the regulation of Status and Transfer of Players.
"An award is suspended firstly by the request of the motivated award and secondly by an appeal to CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport). As we speak, until such time we receive what is called a motivation award, there's no sanction that can be imposed on Royal AM," he said.
Leruma stated that they would not be paying Nurkovic, speaking directly to the Serbian's lawyer Davor Lazic on air.
"I'm still waiting for the motivated award and if anyone at FIFA, the same gentleman that brought it to us, to say 'we've missed the deadline' is the one that promises him that we've not made the deadline," he said.
"I'm sorry, they won't get anything (money)."
Lazic had stated that the matter would be referred to the FIFA disciplinary committee.
"The FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) decision which was issued and distributed more than 45 days ago and since no payment was made to my client Samir Nurkovic, I did inform the lawyer of Royal AM that if they don't pay by the end of tomorrow (Wednesday), we'll have no further option but to submit the matter before the FIFA disciplinary committee," he added.
