Lantshene Phalane appears to be on his way out of Royal AM at the end of the 2022/23 campaign, the Siya crew has been informed.
After it was thought that the 33-year-old midfielder would be amongst the players that would receive the chop upon the purchase of the topflight status of Bloemfontein Celtic by Royal AM, he has proved to be a key feature in the merged team.
His impressive performances saw the KwaZulu-Natal-based side hand him a new two-year deal. The stocky midfielder featured prominently at the beginning of the campaign, starting seven consecutive games.
However, he has seen a drastic decrease in the number of appearances since.
Phalane has garnered a reputation for his off-field misdemeanours through the years, but it was thought that he had overcome his troubles.
However, a reliable source has informed Soccer Laduma that his demons have resurfaced, and the player found himself in hot water with the club's hierarchy, which resulted in his sustained absence from the team.
The nature of Phalane's actions was not disclosed, although it is understood that he had disciplinary issues that were in breach of the club's policies.
The source further explained that it appears to be the end of the road at Thwihli Thwahla for the former Baroka FC, Platinum Stars, University of Pretoria and Swallows FC midfielder.
