Williams enjoyed a record-breaking debut season with the Brazilians where he eclipsed Moeneeb Josephs' record of 17 clean sheets in a season.
On a team front, however, Williams and Sundowns fell short in three competitions although they did manage to scoop the DStv Premiership title in record time with seven games to spare.
The Bafana Bafana captain however, who has been nominated for the Soccer Laduma Player of the Season award, revealed that he did not target individual awards but rather those achieved as a collective.
"I didn't see it coming," he told journalists at the Hyundai Head Offices.
"Like the coach said, you don't play for these individual awards, you just go out there and do your best and try and reach the team's objectives which is the league, the [CAF] Champions League and retaining all the cups," he explained.
"You know if I look back, last year this time there were three trophies and the coach told me, nothing less. For me, it's a bit of a disappointment. I won't say it's a failure because we've done a lot of work this season and we've achieved so much."
"I don't look at all the individual things, I look at my value and obviously [there were] so much disappointments, but there's so much fire burning inside of me to get next season going so that we can get more and hopefully there'll be more trophies and the special [Champions League] one as well."
