Moripe was one of the greatest players of his generation, who was loved by spectators irrespective of which teams they supported and was respected by teammates and opponents alike in the 1970s for the talent that he had in abundance.
He made his name playing for Pretoria Callies, with Orlando Pirates being one of the clubs he had also played for, while he also had a stint in Hong Kong.
For some time now, Moripe has been struggling as had been restricted to only making movements through a wheelchair after he suffered a stroke.
The football stadium in Atteridgeville which defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns and other professional clubs sometimes play in is named after him in honour for his massive contribution to the game.
