Orlando Pirates have had another contract offer for Ben Motshwari rejected, the Siya crew has learnt.
For several weeks now, the midfielder's camp has been in communication with the Soweto giants regarding his future Motshwari is nearing the end of his contract as his current one will be up for renewal on June 30, having joined the club in 2018 from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits.
Having already had a two-year option on his original deal exercised by the Buccaneers in 2021, the player and his camp had been hoping for a new deal for the 32-year-old to continue his stay with the Houghton-based outfit.
However, indications from sources in the know are that the parties have again failed to reach an agreement on some of the details of the new deal.
While the Randfontein-born star is happy at the club and is understood to be on a lucrative deal, the length of the new contract seems to be the issue standing between him and signing on the dotted line.
It is believed that Pirates have offered Motshwari a one-year contract extension in the same way they did with his midfield partner Thabang Monare prior to the beginning of this season, while the player has been hoping for longer than that.
"Ben Motshwari loves Pirates and he does want to stay with the club, but there has been no agreement yet on the length of the contract. The club wants to offer him a one-year contract extension but he wants longer than that," said the source.
Motshwari hasn't been in coach Jose Riveiro's matchday squads in the team's last three matches and there has been no update from the club regarding his future.
