Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has revealed how he got his players motivated to turn things around after re-opening the season with back-to-back defeats.
Pirates had shaky re-start to the season after a loss against Mamelodi Sundowns was followed by another defeat to Cape Town City, which made it three successive league losses after a narrow defeat against Kaizer Chiefs before the FIFA World Cup break.
The Buccaneers were struggling to score goals, particularly in the second stanza of matches but they finally found their scoring touch after thrashing Golden Arrows 3-1, a week prior to hammering Stellenbosch 4-1 this past weekend.

Riveiro says they are now finding enough time to work with the players in the training grounds and that has made the difference.
"I really trust in what we do every single day. We really trust in the training process and now we really enjoy the fact that we have long weeks ahead of us, we can train, we can prepare and then we gonna compete," Riveiro told the media in a press conference.
"It's gonna change in February again and we need to be prepared for that and be consistent also in that type of weeks (busy schedule)," he said.

The Spanish tactician also revealed that he got the best out of his regular players by letting them know that there's many players who are ready to get into the starting line-up if they don't improve.
"I said to guys also that there's many players ready to be in the starting eleven, many and that makes things difficult and easy for me at the same time because there's many players who are prepared and in the right moment to be in the starting eleven," he explained.

"You see the players coming from the bench, the way they come, they are hungry and trying to contribute. It's a kind of a dream for me as a coach to have a chance to keep everyone involved and that's gonna be the key for us to find ourselves at the end of the season at a place where we want to be," he concluded.
