Orlando Pirates head coach, Jose Riveiro, expressed his happiness at reuniting with former player Thembinkosi Lorch ahead of the Carling All Star match at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
The pair enjoyed a successful two-year spell together at Pirates, during which Lorch was one of the standout players for the club, showcasing his immense talent and becoming a key figure in the team.
Lorch's journey since leaving Pirates for Mamelodi Sundowns has been somewhat challenging, as he has struggled to replicate the form that made him a fan favourite at the Buccaneers. Injuries have played a significant role in his time at Sundowns, limiting his appearances and preventing him from finding consistent rhythm.

Despite this, Riveiro remains optimistic about Lorch's potential and the opportunity to see him back on the pitch in front of what is expected to be a full house at Orlando Stadium on Saturday. The Carling All Star match, a showcase of some of the country's top players, will offer Lorch a chance to reconnect with the fans and possibly remind them of his flair and skill.
Speaking about the reunion, Riveiro said, "I'm happy to see him again. He's an important player for South Africa. He's been unlucky recently with the injuries, and this is an opportunity for him to find himself on the field, and we're gonna try and make him feel comfortable again. Hopefully, he can get some minutes, not to show, because everybody knows the type of player that he is - but I'll be happy if he can have a good time in Orlando again."
The match against Magesi FC will provide Lorch with the chance to showcase his talent once more, and Riveiro hopes the experience will help the 31-year-old regain some confidence, while also offering the Orlando Pirates faithful a glimpse of what he is still capable of, despite the struggles he has faced in recent seasons.
