Will we see a defensive Mamelodi Sundowns against Orlando Pirates?

South African football legend Benedict Vilakazi says he will be interested to see if Mamelodi Sundowns' coaches will follow the approach of former coach Pitso Mosimane in their match against Orlando Pirates on Thursday.

Speaking exclusively to the Siya crew, Vilakazi, who represented both Pirates and Sundowns in his glittering career, shared his views on the upcoming Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash.

According to Vilakazi, the Brazilians often set up defensively when they face the Buccaneers, dating back to the time Mosimane was still at the helm, and now he is curious to see if Manqoba Mnqithi, Rulani Mokwena and senior coach Steve Komphela follow in the footsteps of 'Jingles' when they take on Josef Zinnbauer's side at Loftus Versfeld on Thursday.

"I'm looking forward to seeing it because remember every time Sundowns play against Pirates they always they always defend. Remember when coach Pitso was the coach at Sundowns and when he played Pirates, he was always defending. So I'm just curious to see (what) the technical team of Sundowns, now Manqoba Mngqithi, Steve Komphela and Rulani (Mokwena) are going to do. Are they going to do what coach Pitso was doing or are they gonna do what they believe is good for them," Vilakazi told the crew.

"I am saying it's going to be a very good game because both teams are looking forward to creating history. Because since the league has started, Sundowns have not lost any game. I mean they won again against Chippa United this week and it tells you how serious they take these games.

"Look, Pirates have got players that can really challenge Sundowns but at the end of the day I think it comes down to both technical teams and if one doesn't prepare his team well, it will show on the field of play," he added.
