Onyango kept a clean sheet and was handed the 'man of the match' award after an extra time goal from Keegan Dolly handed the Brazilians a 1-0 win.
"I had to be on top of my game because we knew they weren't going to sit back," said Onyango.
"They (Highlands Park) played well. They closed all the angles and we couldn't penetrate through.
"They were trying to catch us on the break. Thank God I managed to get it together and keep a clean sheet.
"I had to stay on top of my game. Playing a team from the NFD is not easy, if we lose concentration, thinking that it's a small team, we could lose.
"Credit must go to them. They gave us a hard game.
"I thank my team because we managed to get away with this result.
"We need to get back to the final because we are the defending champions and we know how important it is.
"We want to make history and we need to do that second time. For us it is very important."
