Orlando Pirates turn their attention to the Nedbank Cup and face a tricky encounter against AmaZulu on Sunday afternoon.
Teams: Orlando Pirates v AmaZulu
Date: 06 February 2022
Venue: Orlando Stadium
Time: 15h00
The Buccaneers ended the 2021 calendar year on a high with back-to-back wins, the last of which was against Benni McCarthy's Usuthu.
The Soweto giants reached the quarter-finals of the tournament last season before they were thrashed 4-1 by Mamelodi Sundowns.
Pirates have won this cup under current sponsors twice (2011 and 2014) and reached the final in 2016 and 2017, losing to SuperSport United on both occasions.
Usuthu, meanwhile, saw their 11-game unbeaten run ended by the Buccaneers in their last game of 2021, where they were humbled after becoming the first side to beat Mamelodi Sundowns in the league prior to that game.
Benni McCarthy's charges reached the last 16 of the tournament last season before they were eliminated by Black Leopards.
AmaZulu's best run in the competition was reaching the final in 2010 but lost 3-0 to Bidvest Wits.
