Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to maintain their perfect start in the CAF Champions League group stages when they lock horns with Al Merreikh on Saturday afternoon.
Teams: Al Merreikh v Mamelodi Sundowns
Date: 19 February 2022
Venue: Al Salam Stadium
Time: 15h00
The Brazilians opened their Group A campaign on a winning note after edging Sudanese side Al Hilal 1-0 thanks to an early goal by Themba Zwane.
Sundowns are top of the section with three points and will be looking to extend their lead at the top ahead of their meeting against holders Al Ahly in the same city next weekend, as Al Merreikh's home game was moved to a neutral venue in Egypt by CAF, who banned their stadium.
However, the Brazilians will be without Gaston Sirino, Pavol Safranko and Gift Motupa due to injuries.
Al Merreikh, meanwhile, will be playing their first match in the group after their opening game against Al Ahly was postponed due to the Egyptian side's participation at the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Chief were in the same group as Al Ahly last season, as they finished bottom of the section with two points and without a win.
Al Merreikh's only previous meeting with a South African club was back in 2012 in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they edged Black Leopards 3-2 on aggregate in the group stage play-offs.
