The Brazilians will be keen on getting back to winning ways in Group A after playing to a goalless draw against Al Merreikh last weekend.
Al Ahly, meanwhile, suffered the same fate against Al Hilal Omdurman last weekend in their first group encounter after returning from the Club World Cup.
These two sides are no strangers after meeting in last season's quarter-final where Al Ahly secured a 3-1 aggregate victory.
However, Sundowns have only beaten their Egyptian counterparts once in their previous eight meetings and have never tested victory in Egypt.
Former Sundowns star Percy Tau rejoined training this week while former Brazilian player, Luis Miquissone bagged a brace in the 4-0 win over Misr Lel Makkasa on Tuesday evening.
