Teams: Polokwane City v Chippa United
Date: 04 January 2020
Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium
Resurgent Chippa United will be aiming to inflict further pain on struggling Polokwane City as the Absa Premiership resumes on Saturday afternoon at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The Chilli Boys have found a new lease on life after Zimbabwean mentor Norman Mapeza took the side out of the relegation quagmire with a five-match unbeaten run.
Chippa collected 13 out of a maximum of 15 points, including back-to-back victories over Cape Town City and SuperSport United before the end of 2019.
The Eastern Cape-based outfit also added two new players to their roster in former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Thokazani Sekotlong and Thabiso Lebitso from the 2019 Nedbank Ke Yona Team.
Meanwhile, Rise and Shine slipped down to the bottom of the log after alarmingly losing nine straight matches, the last of which was a 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sudowns.
However, there is hope of avoiding the drop as they are only two points from safety and their new coach Clinton Larsen helped Chippa avoid relegation last season.
Three of the last four league clashes between the sides have all ended in draws, the exception being a 3-1 victory for the Chilli Boys in the penultimate match of last season.
