Teams: Mamelodi Sundowns v Stellenbosch
Date: 11 December 2019
Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Mamelodi Sundowns will be back in Absa Premiership action when they host struggling Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday evening at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
The Brazilians have played back-to-back CAF Champions League matches, the last of which was goalless draw at Wydad Casablanca in Morocco that kept them at the top of Group C this past weekend.
The continental action has seen Sundowns fall 13 points and two games behind Absa Premiership league leaders Kaizer Chiefs, as their last outing in the Absa Premiership was a narrow 1-0 win over AmaZulu on 26 November.
The Tshwane giants will be without talisman Gaston Sirino, who will be serving his last match suspension, and is set to return in the weekend's Telkom Knockout final.
Meanwhile, Stellies are winless in their last four matches after playing to a 1-1 draw with SuperSport United ten days ago, which has left the side languishing at the bottom of the log, two points from safety.
The last time the sides met was in the 2015 Nedbank Cup semi-final in April, where eventual winners Masandawana edged Stellies 1-0 thanks to a lone-strike by Mzikayise Mashaba.
