Absa Premiership Starting XI: Kaizer Chiefs v Cape Town City 12 January 2020

Teams: Kaizer Chiefs v Cape Town City

Date: 12 January 2020

Venue: FNB Stadium

Absa Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs will have a chance to extend their lead over Mamelodi Sundowns when they host Cape Town City  on Sunday.

Chiefs recovered some day light between them and Sundowns in midweek after a 3-0 thumping over Highlands Park, moving six points clear of the Brazilians who dropped points against Bidvest Wits the night before.

With the Brazilians sitting out the weekend's league action due to the CAF Champions, Amakhosi will have a chance to widen the gap to nine points which could prove vital as Sundowns have another tough match against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday.

The Glamour Boys will welcome back their top striker Samir Nurkovic, who missed their victory over the Lions of the North due to suspension.

Meanwhile, the Citizens are struggling this season with only one win from their last seven outings.

Jan Olde Riekerink's charges were close to winning back-to-back games for the first time this season in midweek but they threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with AmaZulu at Cape Town Stadium.

Chiefs have won the last three meetings against City, two of them this season already in the Absa Premiership and Telkom Knockout - both in Cape Town.
