Teams: Bidvest Wits v Mamelodi Sundowns
Date: 17 December 2019
Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium
Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits will be fighting to recover lost ground in the Absa Premiership title race when they clash on Tuesday evening at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The Brazilians will be in high spirits after lifting the Telkom Knockout trophy on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Maritzburg United in the final at the same stadium, but fatigue could be a factor as they have been juggling around three competitions in the last few weeks.
Sundowns' last league outing was a 3-1 drubbing of Stellenbosch FC last Wednesday, and they will have an opportunity to reduce the gap between themselves and log-leaders Kaizer Chiefs to seven points.
The Tshwane giants will be without left full-back Tebogo Langerman due to suspension after picking up his fourth booking in the Telkom Knockout final.
Meanwhile, the Clever Boys had a week's rest as they have not been in action since narrowly beating Golden Arrows 1-0 in the league last Thursday.
Gavin Hunt's charges still have some catching up to do, as they are five games behind schedule and sit five points behind Sundowns and a whopping 15 points behind Chiefs.
In their meetings last season in the league, the sides played to 1-1 draws in the first and second round matches.
