Absa Premiership Starting XI: Bidvest Wits v Cape Town City 20 December 2019

Teams: Bidvest Wits v Cape Town City

Date: 20 December 2019

Venue: Dobsonville Stadium

Jan Olde Riekerink will be gunning for his first victory since taking charge of Cape Town City when they visit Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership on Friday evening at Dobsonville Stadium.

City have struggled to halt their downward spiral on the log since appointing Riekerink, as they have failed to hit the net in all three of his matches in charge.

After two consecutive goalless draws against Bloemfontein Celtic and Highlands Park, the Citizens tasted defeat for the second time in five matches, with a narrow 1-0 loss to Chippa United on home soil two weeks ago.

City will be boosted by the return of influential goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh from injury but they will still have do without striker Kermit Erasmus, who has not recovered from a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, the Clever Boys will have to contend with tight catch-up schedule as they only had two days to recover from their 1-1 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday.

Gavin Hunt's charges are four games behind the league programme but have managed to occupy fourth spot on the log with 20 points from just ten matches.

When the sides met last term in the league, Wits won 2-0 in the Mother CIty while City turned the tables in the return fixture with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory at Bidvest Wits Stadium.

Wits: 23. Goss, 13. Hlanti, 15. Mkhwanazi, 3. Hlatshwayo, 24. Macheke, 11. Hotto, 17. Alexander, 8. Monare, 21. Doutie, 37. Dzvukamanja, 25. Motupa.

Subs: 1. Petersen, 5. Douhadji, 7. Pelembe, 10. Domingo, 14. Nange, 26. Khunyedi, 28. Macuphu.

City: 1. Leeuwenburgh, 30. Martin, 12. Fielies, 5. Edmilson, 6. Seedat, 21. Mokeke, 18. Roberts, 26. Nodada, 11. Ralani, 10. David, 25. Mthembu.

Subs: 2. Mkhize, 22. Mayambela, 16. Stephens, 17. Norodien, 27. Potouridis, 15. Cupido, 38. Kewuti.
