Mamelodi Sundowns will have no margin for error in their pursuit to catch Absa Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs when they visit AmaZulu Saturday evening at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The recently crowned Telkom Knockout champions did not have a festive break after they landed in Algeria on Christmas Eve to prepare for a CAF Champions League clash against USM Alger on 28 December which they won 1-0.
The Brazilians' last league outing was a narrow 1-0 victory over Polokwane City on 21 December just before they jetted out to Algeria.
Meanwhile, Usuthu ended a four-match winless run in the league with a 2-1 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic in their last match of 2019 to move up to 12th spot.
The Durban-based side announced on Thursday the signing of Slovakian striker Milos Lacny but he is unlikely to face Sundowns as he is still awaiting his work permit.
AmaZulu will be concerned that they are yet to beat Masandawana at home since 1993 although they recorded two away wins over the Tshwane giants in the last two seasons.
