Information reaching the Siya crew is that Marumo Gallants are interested in keeping experienced defender Tshepo Gumede.
As confirmed by this publication in July 2022, the player signed a one-year deal with the club before the start of the current campaign, and there is an option for the Limpopo-based outfit to extend the contract.
Now word from sources in the know is that Gallants are eager to hold onto the former Platinum Stars and Orlando Pirates man for at least another season, as they are set to exercise the option in his deal.
The Dobsonville-born star has made 23 appearances in all competitions and has been a key part of the side's revival in recent weeks, which has seen them qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals and move away from the bottom of the standings in the domestic league.
Gallants have moved up two places to 14th on the standings, giving their chances of surviving the drop a big boost.
Gumede's future, like other players in the team, would depend on whether Bahlabane Ba Ntwa are able to avoid relegation, as the player, who turns 32 on Friday (21 April), would also need to weigh up his options, especially because he'd still want to play in the topflight.
The club is yet to make a final decision on any of the players due to the fact that they have been competing in the DStv Premiership and Confederation Cup.
Contacted by the Siya crew for comment, Gumede said, "We still have to negotiate that. We don't have an option and the contract is running out now in June."
