Development product, Cassius Mailula, was promoted to the first team at the start of the season, after his standout performances for the club's DStv Diski Challenge side.
The Siya crew has been informed that, with the player understood to still be on a development contract, the Brazilians are close to offering the 21-year-old a professional deal.
As reported in Soccer Laduma, edition 1303, Sundowns are believed to be keen to reward the attacker with a new package, in the form of a five-year deal.
Mailula has been one of Masandawana's breakout players this season, stepping up in the absence of injured Peter Shalulile.
"Yeah, the boy has signed a five-year contract. When he was promoted he was still using his contract from the MDC but now he is a full senior team member and that's why they had to give him a new five-year professional contract.
"Its good for both the player and the team. He is still young and has a great future. You know other people are saying that him and Monnapule Saleng of Orlando Pirates are reminding them of the times of Steve Lekolea at Pirates and Jabu Pule at Kaizer Chiefs. They are bringing the supporters back to the stadium. Its good for our football," a source informed the Siya crew.
