Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sphelele Mkhulise has been linked with Kaizer Chiefs lately, so the Siya crew finds out the latest on his situation.
Local reports on Kickoff and Soccer Zone have discussed the possibility of Amakhosi making a move for Mkhulise if his contract is not renewed at the Brazilians.
Soccer Laduma has been informed that Mkhulise still has one year to go on his Sundowns contract, but the 29-year-old could still be available.
Siya sources close to the player have indicated that discussions between the two parties are ongoing, but no final decision has been made regarding Mkhulise’s future.

"At the moment there is no decision taken on his future yet. It's true there have been ongoing talks between all the concerned and involved parties but I can't say what the outcome will be. There are mixed feelings from both management and the technical team at the moment," the source told Soccer Laduma.
A second insider mentioned that Sundowns’ plans to downsize their squad ahead of the next season could impact Mkhulise and other players at the club.

"Yes, Pitso (Mkhulise) still has a year left on his current contract and that's why the talks are ongoing but the club is believed to be looking at downsizing the squad from next season and they are firstly looking at certain players (not starting for the first team) which could include him as well. It won't affect only him but few other players as well including those currently on loan and some whose contracts are coming to an end either this season or next season," the second insider told the Siya crew.
Mkhulise’s situation highlights the challenging decisions Sundowns will face as they evaluate their roster ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. The Siya crew contacted Sundowns for comment but the club had not responded by the time this story was published.
Soccer Laduma will continue to monitor developments on this story.
