Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Derrick Spencer has explained why Nasreddine Nabi should be given at least another season at Naturena but made it clear that there won’t be any excuses going forward.
Amakhosi still have hope of saving the season, with a Nedbank Cup final date set against Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates on May 10.

Before reaching the final, however, Amakhosi's season had been a tough one and they could still miss out on qualifying for the MTN8 for a second consecutive season.
The Soweto giants are eighth on the Premiership standings, on 30 points after 24 matches.
“It’s been up and down. It’s not what we were expecting, but with all the pressure of the past years not doing well, it’s not easy coming into a big team. We had half the team of new players, so finding combinations and having a lot of injuries has not been easy. But, hopefully, he has adapted to the South African style and the culture, and he knows what Chiefs is about. Going into next season, there will be no excuses,” Spencer said at a SuperSportBet event at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

“I think it would be unfair for us to say he has failed or that he should go (now). He needs to be given time because we’ve had a lot of new players in the team. I think we should give him another season and see. We’ve reached the final, so that’s good for the team.”
Chiefs are back in league action this weekend, with a clash away from home against Chippa United.
