Kickoff.com reported that the 32-year-old reigning Midfielder of the Season is the subject of an audacious bid from the Cape outfit as he nears the end of his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has revealed his personal desire to hold onto the player, but has refused to comment on the matter since.
Jali's long-term agent Mike Makaab has revealed that the final decision lies with Sundowns, who have to decide whether they are holding onto the Matatiele-born player with his contract set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Now, according to well-placed sources, Jali would welcome a move to the Mother City.
With City having lost an experienced campaigner in Mpho Makola before the end of the January transfer window, the club is understood to have identified Jali as the ideal replacement for the player.
Despite his bright 2021/22 campaign that saw him being nominated for five PSL awards at the end of the season, Jali has seen a decline in his game-time this campaign having made 14 appearances in all competitions, with 10 of those coming as a starter.
With just four months to go until his contract comes to an end, and with the player understood to be keen on a switch to Cape Town, it remains to be seen where the former University of Pretoria, Orlando Pirates and Oostende player plies his trade next season.
