Zwane Makes Transfer Window Statement

Zwane Makes Transfer Window Statement

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has confirmed that they have signed "some players" and are working on tying up more of their targets for next season.

Chiefs' season did not live up to expectations after they finished in fifth place in the DStv Premiership, losing their fourth game in a row in all competitions in a 1-0 loss to Cape Town City in the last game of the campaign over the weekend.

The Glamour Boys also completed their eight consecutive season without a trophy after they were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup in the semi-finals by rivals Orlando Pirates.

Zwane was asked whether they will go on a signing spree in the off-season after another disappointing campaign. Chiefs have reportedly signed defender Given Msimango from TS Galaxy and Cape Town City midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane.

Although Zwane confirmed they made "some" signings already, he did not reveal their identity.

"Ja, look we have identified few individuals, some we managed to get and some the team is still trying to make sure that they get them," Zwane said in a press conference.

"But again it boils down to one thing; can they cope with the pressure of playing for Kaizer Chiefs' calibre? And look, it leaves one thinking a lot.

"This is a season we learned a lot in terms of bringing players, losing a lot of players, we learned a lot out of it and as much as there were negatives but there were also positives that can help us moving forward," he said.

'Mangethe' went on and indicated that although they want to sign quality players, other clubs are making it "difficult" for them because of the competition.

"And ja, we will see how we bring on board to come help the team but again it's a case of quality. If the quality is available, then we go for it," he continued.

"It's always been difficult for the club, whenever we approach teams for a player, they make it difficult for us, obviously because the competition is very stiff," he added.

Amakhosi will welcome Thatayaone Ditlhokwe from SuperSport United in July after he signed a pre-contract contract with the Soweto giants in January.
