The 27-year-old, who hails from KwaZulu-Natal, spoke candidly about the introspective period his team underwent during the recent FIFA international break following their disappointing 2-0 loss to Richards Bay.
Cele explained that the team used the time to reflect deeply, looking inwardly at their performances and mindset. The loss against Richards Bay prompted a series of discussions among the players, and Cele believes the team is now more motivated than ever to put things right.
"Well, after this space of observation and thinking and going deep into our own mind and our own hearts, you know, I feel positive for the next game," Cele told Chiefs' media department.
"We're working very hard, trying to put in some new things in our game and add some few things because the priority remains the same. Even despite the difficulties that we faced, the objective remains the same, which is to win the game."
Cele also took time to reflect on his personal journey at Naturena, crediting the supportive environment at Kaizer Chiefs for helping him settle in seamlessly. The midfielder has been impressed with his own performances since joining the club, and he attributes much of his success to the culture and camaraderie within the team.
"I have to say it's also the environment, the people that I found here, the teammates, and the technical team," he explained. "My heart has always been here, and I've been working for my own individual dreams, but at the same time, I think it's something that was always going to happen for me to come here. And I feel good that I'm here and I'm here to try and help the team so that we can achieve our objective as a team and achieve for the club."
