The last time Kaizer Chiefs won silverware was in the 2014/15 season when they lifted the double with the MTN8 and the Premiership title. On Saturday Amakhosi crashed out of the Carling Knockout, losing 1-0 at home to AmaZulu FC as frustration is growing on their failure to win a trophy in eight years.
The captain when Chiefs last won a trophy was Tefu Mashamaite under coach Stuart Baxter and since then captains and coaches have come and gone without any success.

In a one-on-one interview with Soccer Laduma, the Limpopo born former defender stated that he feels this season Chiefs have assembled a squad which is capable of winning a trophy.
"It has to be this season. They have to win a trophy this season. They have a very good squad. A well-balanced team," Mashamaite told Soccer Laduma.
"I was wishing it could have been the MTN8 and Carling Knockout but it was not to be. I hope they amass enough courage to realise that supporters are now tired of waiting for that trophy that they have wanted so much.
"They nee to get a buy in from the supporters and other disgruntled quarters. And it's good because it comes just before the festive season. I also want to get this monkey out of my back.
"People always remind me that I was the last captain to lift a trophy at the club and it doesn't sit well with me. So if they can work well together I believe they can win something this season," Mashamaite told Soccer Laduma.
The former Chiefs defender added that they have the players now to win that elusive trophy.
"They have quality players and all the departments have the right combinations and competition which is good for the team. Now it's time for them to produce the results and start winning at least two to three games in a row and the supporters will be back," concluded Mashamaite.
