Itumeleng Khune is touted for a big role at Kaizer Chiefs as discussions around his future have taken centre stage.
Khune has seen his contract with Chiefs finish at the end of June, while indications are that the Soweto giants have had no plans about offering him a new deal as a player.

As Chiefs travelled to Turkey last week for their pre-season under the newly appointed coach Nasreddine Nabi and his new look technical team, Khune has been left behind, which has led to questions being asked about his future.
Khune's last contract extension at Amakhosi was confirmed on 30 June 2023.
At the time, the club confirmed that the one-year deal offered to the veteran goalkeeper was his final one as a player for the side.
The Soweto giants said Khune would transition into coaching and ambassadorial roles at the club.
In the team's last home match of the 2023/24 season against Polokwane City in May, Khune was honoured for the 25 years of service to the club and the legacy he has built over the years since his development days and up to the senior team.
Chiefs' goalkeeping legend Joseph 'Banks' Setlhodi believes that Chiefs could benefit from using Khune's services in a different role if he were to stop playing.
"Itumeleng Khune is an asset of Kaizer Chiefs. He is a legend of the club. Khune can a play a big role in motivating other players at Kaizer Chiefs. Khune can be a good coach and I'm not talking about just the goalkeeping department," said Setlhodi, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.

"Being a goalkeeper for so many years, you can get the experience of coaching because it's something that you have been doing anyway, shouting all those instructions to the other players, that's coaching. For goalkeepers, it is easy to become a coach after their playing days are over and goalkeepers make great coaches," said Setlhodi.
