The South African Football Association has responded, though vaguely, to the latest rumours about Walter Steenbok and his position as the technical director.
Last month, Steenbok had been scheduled to face a disciplinary hearing at SAFA on allegations of gross misconduct, gross mismanagement and gross insubordination, among other charges.

It has been alleged that Steenbok breached SAFA's statutes, as well as internal policies and procedures at the mother body.
According to sources close to SAFA, Steenbok could leave the association, this despite having been lauded for his role in the transformation of football in the country since being appointed in 2022.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns chief scout managed to bring back the CAF A and B licenses which were hugely welcomed by coaches around the country as confirmed by their attendance in numbers recently.

In response to the question about Steenbok's future, SAFA stated that they were not in a position to discuss internal matters with the media.
"Thank you for the inquiry, but we do not discuss internal SAFA matters with members of the media because these are confidential," stated SAFA in response.
