As tributes continue to pour for the late Kaizer Chiefs legend Johannes 'Ryder' Mofokeng, former Amakhosi assistant coach Farouk Khan has sent his condolences to the club and the family of the fallen hero.
Chiefs confirmed on the weekend that Mofokeng has passed away and he was Amakhosi's longest-serving captain in their history, having first joined the club in 1970 from White City Lucky Brothers.
During his illustrious career with the Soweto giants, Mofokeng won over 20 trophies as club captain between 1975 and 1985.
The former right-back, who has been passionate about the development of young players, was 68 at the time of his passing.
"He was a great stalwart of the team and he contributed in many, many ways and he will be solely missed by the club. He has been a stalwart who had been there since Kaizer Chiefs started and he was the longest captain of the team," said Khan, speaking to the Siya crew.
"To his family I say during this time may the Almighty bless them with patience and perseverance. He will always be remembered very fondly by the faithful of Kaizer Chiefs," added Khan, who is also a well-respected television analyst and development coach.
