Dolly Talks Bafana Exclusion: I'm At This Stage In My Life Where...

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Keagan Dolly has discussed his chances of playing for Bafana Bafana after they qualified for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.

Chiefs had no player selected in the recent Bafana squad that qualified for the Afcon in Ivory Coast next year after taking four points off Liberia thanks to a 2-1 win in Monrovia on Tuesday.

Dolly will be one of Amakhosi players who will be looking to change Bafana head coach Hugo Broos' mind leading up to the biennial tournament, as he confirmed that he still has ambitions of playing for the national team.

"Ja, look I've always wanted to represent my country and I still want to do that. It's always an ambition of mine to help the country qualify for major tournaments and that's still in me," Dolly told journalists at the club's Open Media Day.

"But look we focus on Kaizer Chiefs and the game this weekend, we're happy that the boys qualified, we're happy we're going to the Afcon and we don't know what's going to happen next. Whoever makes it just needs to make sure  that we go there and do the country proud," he said.

The 30-year old carried on and said that he would give his best for Bafana if he is selected for the final Afcon squad but if not, at this stage of his career, he uses the time to be with his family.

"For me I'm at this stage where if I happen to make the team, I make it, I go give my best but if I don't I've said it gives me more time to spend with my family. I'm at this stage in my life where I want to give my best to Kaizer Chiefs and if I go to Bafana I do and go give my best," he added.

Dolly, who had a four-and-half year spell in Europe before he joined Chiefs, has been capped 23 times at Bafana.
